user onboarding

Scenario

Onboarding users and easing them into using a new functionality should be an inherent trait associated with good user experience. When “Scheduling” was introduced in the application, we had to let users know at a glance what the new feature allows them to do.

A picture speaks a thousand words, hence we also had to accompany the message with an intuitive illustration.

First draft

I explained the concept and user persona to the illustrator who came up with an illustration that best depicted the action associated with the Schedule Publication feature. I also gathered keywords such as "recurring", "multiple users", "multiple publications", and so on and came up with the first draft.

You can create a recurring schedule to share PDF versions of your story or analytic application using e-mail, to multiple users and teams. For the same story or analytic application, a single schedule can have multiple publications catering to different users and teams within your organization or outside.

You can select the saved bookmarks to customize the publications in a schedule. These stories can be based on live and acquired data sources. You can also edit the prompts and variables while scheduling stories.

Final Draft

After a couple of rounds of discussions and feedback from the People Centric Approach (PCA) task force, I finalized the following text. This was a learning for me as well on how personally you can communicate with customers.

The following text highlights the most important intention of this feature, which is “sharing stories for offline consumption”. Followed by the other ‘good-to-know’ features.

Need to share your stories or analytic applications easily for offline use? You can now schedule and share PDF copies over email with SAP Analytics Cloud. With a single schedule, you can set up multiple publications meant for different users and teams inside or outside your organization. Personalize these publications further with saved bookmarks and specific variable settings. Whether your analytics are based on acquired or live data, get started and share your stories today!
